One word. Two directions. Both meet at the cross.
The Design
“Worthy” is written in bold, sweeping script, distressed and weathered in aged cream. Right in the center, the “t” becomes a cross, splashed in deep red. The rest of the word holds together because of it. Take the cross away, and you’re left with “Wor hy,” which doesn’t mean much of anything.
Consider This
“In a loud voice they said: ‘Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!’” — Revelation 5:12 (BSB)
In Revelation, all of heaven gathers around the throne, and the song they sing is not about a conquering king on a warhorse. It’s about a Lamb who was slain. His worthiness is tied to His wounds. The cross wasn’t a detour on the way to glory. It was the way.
The word runs in a second direction too. Most of us spend our lives trying to prove we’re worth something: to our parents, our boss, our kids, the mirror. Scripture doesn’t flatter us here. We could never earn it. But it says something even better:
“But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8 (BSB)
Not after we cleaned up. While. We are not worthy on our own, yet the One who is worthy decided we were worth dying for. That’s the heart of grace: you don’t earn your value, you receive it from Him.
So the next time you feel the old pressure to prove yourself, look at the middle of the word. The cross has already settled it.
Consider: Where are you still trying to earn what Jesus has already given you?
A bold, vintage-style worship tee for Sunday mornings, worship nights, and every ordinary Tuesday when you need the reminder.
He is worthy. And because of Him, you are loved.
