Calloused hands. Curious mind. Quiet faith.
The Design
A navy trucker cap with a tan mesh back and a raven patch sits atop bold, distressed varsity lettering: “Blue ★ Collar Scholar.” Beneath it are “Faith · Husband · Father” and “Work with your own hands · 1 Thess. 4:11.” It’s black and gold with a worn-in vintage finish, on a tank made for hot days, yard work, and the garage.
Consider This
“…and to aspire to live quietly, to attend to your own matters, and to work with your own hands, as we instructed you.”
— 1 Thessalonians 4:11 (BSB)
The King James puts the first part memorably: “study to be quiet.” That’s a scholar’s assignment if there ever was one, and an unusual ambition. Most people aim to be noticed. Paul tells believers to aim for a quiet life, minding their own business and working with their hands.
Paul knew what he was talking about. The man who wrote much of the New Testament paid his way making tents, working night and day so he wouldn’t be a burden on the churches he served. And Jesus Himself was known in His hometown simply as “the carpenter.”
So the blue-collar scholar isn’t a contradiction. It’s practically a biblical tradition: hands busy with honest work, a mind busy with the things of God, and a home that knows exactly who he is.
Consider: What would it look like to make a quiet, faithful life your ambition this week?
For dads, husbands, tradesmen, farmers, mechanics, builders, and any man who can quote Scripture and fix a leaky faucet, sometimes at the same time.
